Welcoming A New Family Member

Stuff has happened since I last posted.

Good stuff. Fun stuff. Cute stuff. All in the shape of this little guy.

Josh and Serena decided to make Iven and I grandparents. Finally!

They'd been away in Sydney for a week and had planned to pick him up on the way home. It was all set for Sunday until a bolt embedded into their car tyre late on Saturday night. At that point none of the plans were set in concrete any more. They didn't even know if they'd be able to drive until Monday. The last we heard was that they'd found somewhere that was open on Sunday that might be able to fix it and they'd decide after they'd been there.

We waited all day Sunday to hear some news. Serena messaged mid-afternoon to say that the tyre place hadn't been able to fit them in and basically they were stuck there till Monday.

Later on that afternoon I messaged Josh to see if he'd watched any of a very disappointing soccer match be the team we support. He messaged back to say he hadn't and asked how it had gone. I'd just finished a reply back to him when he walked through the back door and into the lounge room - puppy in hand.

I was confused and excited all at the same time. Confused and excited enough to scream. Fairly loud by all accounts. We'd been conned. In the nicest way possible.

They'd actually stuck pretty close to their original plans. Just kept us out of the loop.

So we celebrated the new arrival with cake. And then let the little guy settle in.

I am not a crazy dog lady.Well, maybe just a little bit.

  3. Char, I have followed you on Facebook (which is unreliable) and through the network but I'd love to follow you by email as that's how I read my blog list. Do you have an option on your site I'm missing and if not would you consider putting one on?

    1. Thanks for the suggestion Pinky. I've managed (with the help of my son and Google) to do so.

    1. The name's not finally decided yet. And he is pretty mischievous.
The cake actually wasn't that hard. It just required a bit of careful cutting and reassembly.

    2. I don't know, I have a hard time drawing a good circle, let alone cutting cakes in multiple circles. :)

  6. Awe now Michael wants one. BTW, did you make that cake? If so, I'm no expert, but you appear to be pretty good at cake making. A lot of them look like something on TV or something.

    1. Yes, I made the cake, Jim. And it was seriously flawed but I hid the mistakes with appropriately placed dots, piped icing and careful photography.

  17. Welcome home to the beautiful newcomer. He is so cute. I will bring home a dog from the shelter when I retire (I hope in 1 or 2 years if the law doesn't change).
Congrats to the grandma (and the grandpa too).
